They say that it is good luck for it to rain on your wedding day, but I’m pretty sure someone just made that up to make couples feel better. Nobody dreams of having rain on their wedding day. But couples can’t easily reschedule their wedding, so they are faced with a choice: they can either sulk or they can choose joy. Meggie and Ross CHOSE JOY. The weather could not dampen (pun intended) their big day!

I was fortunate enough to photograph the rehearsal dinner, and between the toasts that evening and the toasts at the wedding, there was a theme: both Meggie and Ross “lit up” when the other was in the room. And boy, were they right… it is this evident in all of the photographs you are about to view!

I’ve been thinking about how they both “light up” when they are with each other, and the verse that comes to mind is John 1:5, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” I also think of Matthew 5:15, which says, “Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.”

Meggie and Ross, individually you are both lights. You are both incredibly kind. You both love people well. You both have huge hearts for the Lord. But one little, individual light can only go so far. Together you can go so much further. You can shine so much brighter. The darkness will never overcome the two of you together. Your foundation is firm. It was such a privilege to be your wedding photographer! And so what that you had a rainy wedding day– I feel like the imagery of light and dark just continues. You two are “sunshine on a cloudy day” (My Girl). Meggie and Ross, may your light for the Lord shine brightly together today and everyday! Enjoy my favorite images from your big day!
